Where is Lucas Located?
Lucas is a city located in Collin County, Texas, the United States. It lies in North Texas, about 30 miles northeast of downtown Dallas and roughly 10 miles northeast of Plano. Allen is nearby to the west, while Wylie and Lake Lavon are located to the east. Lucas is situated at approximately 33.084° North latitude and 96.576° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,221 residents, and the city covers about 12.39 square miles (32.09 sq km). Lucas was incorporated in 1971 after developing from a rural farming community. The area remained largely agricultural for much of its history, with cattle, crops, and open land shaping the local landscape. Rapid growth in Collin County later brought residential development while the city retained a lower-density character than many nearby suburbs. Lake Lavon is one of the area's most important geographic and recreational features, providing opportunities for fishing, boating, camping, and wildlife viewing. Nearby parks and open spaces add to the city's rural setting. A unique feature of Lucas is its large-lot residential landscape within one of the fastest-growing parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
