River Oaks is a city located in Tarrant County, Texas, the United States. It lies immediately west of Fort Worth along the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, about 5 miles west of downtown Fort Worth and roughly 7 miles north of Benbrook. White Settlement is around 5 miles west, while Lake Worth is about 7 miles northwest. River Oaks is positioned near 32.777° North latitude and 97.396° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,991 residents. The city covers about 1.75 square miles, or 4.53 square kilometers. River Oaks was incorporated in 1940 after developing as a residential community west of Fort Worth. Its early growth was influenced by the expansion of Fort Worth and the development of transportation routes across Tarrant County.
