Silsbee is a city located in Hardin County, Texas, the United States. It lies in Southeast Texas near the western edge of the Piney Woods and close to the Big Thicket region. Silsbee is about 20 miles north of Beaumont, 35 miles northwest of Port Arthur, and roughly 90 miles northeast of Houston. Lumberton is approximately 10 miles south of the city. Silsbee is located at 30.3508° North latitude and 94.1771° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,393 residents. The city covers about 7.2 square miles (18.6 square kilometers), with nearly all of its area consisting of land. Timber and forestry played a major role in Silsbee's development, and the surrounding pine forests remain an important part of the local landscape. Village Creek and the nearby Big Thicket National Preserve provide opportunities for paddling, hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing.
