White Oak is a city located in Gregg County, Texas, the United States. It is in East Texas, about 8 miles north of Longview, 10 miles west of Gladewater, and approximately 15 miles northwest of Kilgore. White Oak lies at approximately 32.527° North latitude and 94.862° West longitude. The city had 6,413 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 4.48 square miles, or 11.60 square kilometers. White Oak developed during the growth of the East Texas oil industry and became an established community in the Longview area. The discovery of oil nearby in the early 20th century brought workers, businesses, and transportation improvements to the region. Today, White Oak has a largely residential character and is closely connected to the Longview metropolitan area. The surrounding Piney Woods landscape features tall pine forests, creeks, and lakes. Nearby attractions include Lake Gladewater, Paul Boorman Trail, Longview Arboretum and Nature Center, and the Gregg County Historical Museum.
