Coconut Creek is a city located in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida, United States. The city was established in 1967 and developed as a planned residential community in northern Broward County. Coconut Creek was named for the large number of coconut palm trees planted throughout the early development areas of the community. Today the city is widely known as the “Butterfly Capital of the World” and is recognized for its environmentally conscious planning and extensive green spaces.
