Margate is a city located in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida, United States. The city was established in 1955 by developer Jack Marqusee and incorporated in 1955 as part of the rapid suburban growth occurring in South Florida during the mid-twentieth century. Margate developed as a residential community with canals, parks, and local commercial centers serving nearby metropolitan areas. Today the city is recognized for its family-oriented neighborhoods, community parks, and convenient access to the greater Fort Lauderdale region.
