Marco Island is a city located in Collier County in the U.S. state of Florida, United States. The island was developed during the mid-twentieth century as a planned coastal resort community and was later incorporated as a city in 1997. Marco Island grew through tourism, residential development, and waterfront recreation along the Gulf of Mexico. Today the city is known for its white-sand beaches, boating canals, and vibrant tourism industry.
