Edgewater is a city located in Volusia County in the U.S. state of Florida, United States. The city was established in the late nineteenth century and was incorporated in 1924 as a small riverfront community along the Indian River Lagoon. Edgewater developed historically through fishing, boating, and agriculture before expanding into a residential city within the New Smyrna Beach metropolitan area. Today the city is known for its waterfront scenery, parks, and access to coastal recreation areas.
