Established in 1935, Big Bend National Park has been named after the large bend in the Rio Grande/Río Bravo. The national park is located in West Texas, bordering Mexico. This national park spans over an area of 801,163 acres in Brewster County. Bordered by the areas of Maderas del Carmen in Mexico and Cañón de Santa Elena, the park has a rich cultural history.
