Guyana is a country on the northern coast of South America bordered by Venezuela, Brazil, Suriname, and the Atlantic Ocean. The country is divided into 10 administrative regions, and those regions are further divided into neighborhoods and local councils. Georgetown is the national capital and also the largest city in Guyana.

The country includes rainforests, rivers, savanna plains, mining areas, farming communities, and a narrow but heavily populated coastal zone. Most of the population lives near the Atlantic coast, while the interior regions are much larger and covered by forests and river systems.
